The Ray Miller Trail in Point Mugu State Park has become one of my go-to hikes. It's got some pretty amazing views and since it's uphill on the way up - makes for a good workout too!
Being October, things are pretty dry but there's still a ton of beauty and lots of wildlife (last month we saw a fox!) Just for fun I added some photos of what the same trail looked like in March because it was SO green then.
GETTING THERE + PARKING
The Trail can be accessed on PCH and you get to it either from the Oxnard/Camarillo or Thousand Oaks/Calabasas side easily.
One you enter there is paid parking area to the left (I always park on PCH to avoid fees) and a few campsites to the right - head to the paid parking area which is near the trailhead. There are portable bathrooms in the parking area too (better than nada!).
The trail is a bit tucked away on the right-hand side of the road but easily visible once you get to it! I usually just hike up to the Overlook Point and come back down - I believe this trail USED to loop but does not anymore (there are signs saying it's closed)
And this is what it looked like back in March...it's STILL beautiful now, but that green and those wildflowers! Make sure to put it on your list for Spring!
